Troops? Soldiers? Service members?

What's the correct word to use? As previously mentioned, the Armed Forces of the United States of America are comprised of six different branches, each with unique names for their service members (Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Guardsmen, and Airmen, to name a few).

But what about troops?
